Hey all - I'm experience a specific issue with my tremolo arm, and am looking for some feedback from you all, or hopefully a Fender rep.

The tremolo arm in my American Elite Strat works great, except for a noise and a kind of "grinding" that's happening. See the video for details.

Hi,

I do not have the same problem, but close. I have an Amercian Elite serial number starting with 1802, it's June 20th as I post this, and my tremolo arm / whammy bar makes a knocking noise. Yours grinds. Mine knocks. Here is a video:

What you are hearing in your vid about your problem sounds like a spring loaded piece of metal engageing badly and grinding. Mine is a spring loaded piece of metal that doesn't immobilize the bar. Knock knock. Particularly loud on nice soulful blues tremolo. KNOCK. Every bend. We are having issues in the tremolo anchoring department. I don't want to resort to electrical tape, but I can see it happening.

I think the OP's problem is related to the clip mentioned in this vid

2nd poster's issue is that the Allen screws need adjusting (also mentioned in vid)

So, thanks all. Problem has been solved. I watched that YouTube video and though we had a slightly different problem, the solution was the same.

I used a paint scraper and a few light taps with a mallet to bend the stiff spring arm back, and it solved the issue completely.

Thanks from me too. Took the bridge out, adjusted both allen grubs to taste, worked. Nice

A guitar this expensive should not need this kind of post modification. My Elite vibrato bar is imperfect, and needs touch up also. Unacceptable.
