I had had both an American Standard and a 2012 AVRI 57 .

The American Standard is a decent guitar with quality wood and hardware. I personally dont care for the wider string spacing and the 2 post them. I also prefer the vintage tuners on the 57 ri.

The 57 RI is a quality instrument from top to bottom. The guitar was light as a feather and the neck carve was excellent. I really liked the V neck. The pickups people really like . I wasnt a big fan . My other 2 guitars have 50 era ri pickups that I like better. To my ears the 57/62s sounded dark.Replacing pickups is a small thing though. If I HAD to chose between the two it would be the 57 for sure , but ymmv.

Yes, it's a personal thing.

As a live player I myself prefer the Am Std exactly because of the 2-point trem and the spacing, the "modern" truss rod access, micro tilt and a few other slight details being an edge for my needs. It's a more versatile strat so to speak, though all this can be absolutely nothing to others...

Oh and in my case, my Am Std has fat 50s, not the older pickups that came with the older ones, so I'm good with them.

For my personal taste, I prefer the vintage specs Far prefer the V style neck and the smaller frets over the modern C and jumbos. Also prefer the 6 point trek over the 2 and the tuners.

The smaller frets allows a MUCH lower action assuming your neck is totally level and the fret heights are even. That along with the V shape and I’m assuming a satin finish on the neck , and it plays like butter / you can fly

Quite a few of the greats who play Strats use / prefer a 57 style specd guitar in in some fashion. Gilmour Clapton Beck (I think) Townshend among others. I think it’s bc of the playability factor. They all change PUPs to get the tone they want though.
