I have seen a Stratacoustic for sale. It is not a Deluxe but it has Fender on the head and label. I can only find reference to a Stratacoustic being made as a Squire. Has anyone any info on this?

What did they sell for new? Why aren't they more popular?

I have read that they need quite a bit of setting up from the box, The one that I have seen is $199. I am just confused that it is labelled Fender.

I think that the move to Squier is pretty recent. Squier's website mentions them (Stratacoustic & Telecoustic) but they aren't in their price list there.

I was intruiged by these guitars, but have seen a good deal of bad reviews. Maybe they're just not popular?

Weren't the original stratacoustic's from the late 80's early 90's and fender made. It could be one of them. As i remember they weren't the best sounding acoustic's due to the body shape and the wooden bridge never seemed to match the fingerboard radius making it uncomfortable. If it is, keep it mate it'll be worth a mint in time.

I bought one of these when they first came out in (I think 2000). I was looking for a travel guitar and I saw this Stratocoustic, and I thought what the heck, I'll buy it. If I didn't like it I'd sell it. It does say Fender on the neck, but it's made in China! I use this like I would use one of my Strats. I use electric strings on it. The sound isn't great, it sounds like a plastic guitar! Plugged in with bronze strings on it sounds great. Because of the plastic sound, and it really doesn't stay in tune that great, Fender probably got alot of complaints and bumped it down to a Squire. (Not that I'm dissing Squires)! But all in all I think it's ok for a travel guitar. I think I paid around $250.00 for it new. Image

How does this compare to the Kramer Ferrington models, (made in the 80's, almost bought one)?
