hi to all
Two days ago I bought my first stratocaster , standard mexican , it came with 09-42 strings
the seller setup guy did a great job setting up the guitar action , floating bridge "david gilmour style" and so on

i have always played other guitar with floyd rose bridge, but i really felt in love with stratocaster

well i'm used to play 10-46 strings

my problem , i want to change the strings but i don't want to break bridge or other guitar parts like the strato nut

do I need to change the springs ? I guess the mexican standard have the soft springs
do I need to change or enlarge the nut holes
could the 10-46 string tension damage the bridge and the 6 screws

can somebody please help me to perfom this task?

thank you so much , sorry for my poor english

1- do I need to change the springs ? I guess the mexican standard have the soft springs.
You may need to screw the springs claw a bit to keep bridge at the right angle ; check before or post picture
Never hear about soft spring, only Vintage ( chrome ) or American Standard spring ( black )

2- do I need to change or enlarge the nut holes
No

3- could the 10-46 string tension damage the bridge and the 6 screws
No

Your english is very good

Don't forget; never do something before you know what you are doing.
Tremolo bridge are easy to set up if you know what you are doing, if not don't do it.

Neck may need a truss rod adjustment with different string gauge ,not always . You have to check.

Look you are new with a guitar, best is to play few weeks before doing some string change

Try playing with the 9-42 strings before changing. Strats have a longer scale length than Gibsons and other guitars, so it may be just right.
