Greetings. Ive been looking at Bigsby Vibratos on thier website. I couldnt figure which model would work on a strat. Or maybe its impossible. I seen them on the SG's and Telecasters and even pics of strats with a vibrato/wammy bar but cant confirm anyone package deal to buy for installation etc. Anyone help here is appreciated. Blessings. Please answer why a Bigsby ?

A Fender tremolo may work better than a Bigsby

I've just fitted a ZZGuitarWorks E-Z Mount Bigsby B-50 to my Ltd. Ed. American Special Strat. It looks awesome, and no modifications, so I can return it to as before whenever I want. Seriously worth it, amazing feel, tone and look!

The Bigsby B5 Vibrato Kit - is for Flat Top Solid-Body Guitars.

I installed one on a Squire Standard Telecaster once, and it's not necessarily difficult...but it IS a bit tricky and picky---string line it on both "E" string positions and get it dead straight, or it's all for nothing (in my opinion).
Bigsby is a complete and total pain to string (with the eye in the peg, and wrap around), but it DID make that solid body guitar sound like a semi-hollow.

P.S.- Trading that guitar off, was one of the biggest mistakes I made in gear swap, buy, sell...I miss it.

Greetings. Thanks for the post. I welcome more too. Ive been having a problem getting a hold of ZZGuitarWorks E-Z Mount resources to buy. I have noted the model from the kind post here, B-50. If anyone has a link etc. Again, thanks for posting. I only like to own one electric guitar, so I want to play some Fifties songs that use a vibrato. IM also waiting to install a humbucker in my bridge spot. Way fun this new hobby. I got a brass nut, sounds great. Just tightening screws on my bridge improved my tone etc. Paul wa state.

Don't you no that you are a .... little bit out of the ordinary for wanting to downgrade your Strat?

You'll be giving up intonation, adding unnecessary weight and irreversibly drilling holes in a perfectly good body.

Just saying.

It's your guitar.
Do what you like.
I most certainly would not.

I can hear Neil Armstrong on TV saying,
"One small step for appearance, one giant leap backwards for everything else."

Greetings. The reason I thought about a bigsby is because I thought they were the only ones that worked. The tremelo bar that came with the guitar doesnt work. You have pulsh way much and it hardly varys the sound. If you can reccomend a fender vibrato bridge model that works, please post. Thanks for your posts. Paul wa state.

Sorry you are wrong , your Fender tremolo ( and guitar ? ) just need a set-up. Or tremolo is defective.
I do lots of tremolo and guitar set-up and each time they work perfectly.

Which Fender guitar are you talking about ?

Why do you think we never see Strat with Bigsby ? They don't need it

If you don't like Fender tremolo it is another story , Fist set up properly.

Sure it can be done. But on a Strat, especially with a trem equipped one, it's a lot more difficult than on a hardtail guitar like a Tele. Like, 'first fill the trem cavity'... (Hipshot used to have a preformed wood block for the purpose, don't know if it's still on the menu.)
If I'd need a Strat with a Bigsby (and I certainly don't), I'd start with at least a hardtail, better yet a (Fender licenced aftermarket) body without any bridge routings or drillings.

Push way much, hardly varies the sound... Makes me wonder if the the original trem is decked or blocked...
Anyways, getting the original trem to work is a setup issue, like st52 wrote.

Maybe your model has the springs and they fell out of the hole...

If you say it is hard to push the tremolo and it doesn't make a lot of difference to the sound, turn the guitar over and undo the 6 screws in the plastic back plate (the one that the strings go through )
Then , with a crosshead screwdriver , loosen the two big screws that hold the claw , you will have to retune the guitar , if it is still stiff, take off one of the springs and try again

The tremolo sounds like it has been decked with all 5 springs

I wrote 2 days ago ; shootingstarno's tremolo need a set -up.

He did not answer about that

With respect , I saw that but maybe he just wanted to try simple instructions, as I posted, to see if it actually worked before maybe paying for a set up
For all we know, he may be a complete novice at set ups , but following those simple instructions , anyone could do at least a passable attempt at seeing if it cured the problem without spending any money
