I tried searching for my answers before posting this, but HM doesn't meet the 3 letter minimum search requirement, and, well, searching for Strat would only frustrate me more with the number of hits.

I recently purchased an 89 HM Strat with a Kahler Spyder. It's in good shape and cleaned up nice. My only trem experience is with a Floyd Rose, and I'm having issues with the Kahler Spyder. I've followed every direction I could find, including the HM Strat manual and can't seem to get it right. All the measurements appear to be right, but I can't seem to get rid of the fret buzz that seems to be present the length of the neck. I also can't seem to find a good picture of how the bridge should sit. Has anyone changed the springs from 4 to 3? (As in the number of strings. The guitar I have with the Floyd Rose has 3 and it seems ok. If there's a post here as bout any of this, my apologies, and please point me to it. Any advice or suggestions regarding this guitar in general will be greatly appreciated. Thank you gor your time.

These tremolo, like Floyd Rose are not easy to set up.

1- Following instruction is not enough sometime , you need some experience
2- Knive edge could be worn out , did you check it ?

Fret buzz ; action too low, wrong neck curve, worn out frets...

3- Guitar neck ( truss rod) may need some set-up , did you know how to ?

Picture may help.

"Fret buzz that seems to be present the length of the neck" - my first guess would be that you're trying to set it up with too low string height for your playing style.
So, a basic check: are your relief and action in specs?

And: which HM Strat model, which Spyder model? Anyways, here's a good collection of Kahler manuals: https://www.whammyparts.com/index.php/download-manuals
And I'd enjoy pics, too. General ones for fun, a close up of the bridge from the side to be able to help better.
