EDIT: I've updated the photo with one with the current pickups in it, just to show off it's real beauty.

I've had this guitar for years now... well, literally ever since I was born and it hasn't been rightfully mine until just a few years ago. I'm 15 now and I got it when I was 12-13 years old. It was my father's who bought it as his first real guitar back when he was around my age now. It's been kept in great condition and absolutely everything was original on it until this year when I decided to change out the pickups to Shawbucker 2's. I posted this guitar before to help identify it since neither my dad nor me had any idea on what it was other than the fact it was an MIJ. We determined it to be a 1984-86 Squier ST-331. it's a single humbucker in the bridge and she sounds absolutely fantastic.

I just wanted to put this out here as an appreciation post for weird/unknown strats even though mine is only a squier and not really a true fender.

I was thinking of naming my baby as well, maybe something like "Cherried Anomaly".

edit: Not sure if the image is working, so I set it to a linked BBCode if that helps.

Squier maybe, unusual (to me) definitely, but nice all the same! My advice - don't mod it (hopefully you have the original pup to replace if required) and don't sell it!!! :)
I only wish I still had the guitars I had as a teen. Not only for the value now, but - in your case - for it being a part of your family and playing history. Apart from that, your Japanese Squier is going to be a far better player than anything I could afford in the 60's!

Cheers - Peter.

Of course I kept the original pup lol. It's pretty rare to my knowledge aswell because this exact model was constantly lost in shipping and transport because they were relatively inexpensive.

Hi again, Bill. Good to hear (err, that should be "read") that the guitar is still playing.
Here's a link to that ID'ing topic for anyone interested: https://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=109416

And there are other ST-331 owners on the forum, too:

Quite so. I ended up buying a stand in to represent my first electric which I sold.
