How come some single coil pickups hum more then other single coils? I not talking about stacked or rail pickups that cancel hum, I'm talking about regular single coil pickups. Do some hum more then others because of different output signals? Also do the Standard single coils on the Fender Standard Stratocaster have low, medium, or high output signal?

Higher output = higher gain = more noise

Noise can also be impacted by variances in the quality of the shielding when comparing two guitars.
Shielding paint is pretty good, but a thin area near the grounding lug could increase noise.

What about the standard Single coil pickups on the Fender Standard Stratocaster, are they consider low, medium or high output?

If you mean Fat 50s I’d call them mid to upper end of Medium.
That’s me.
Some people think anything that doesn’t overheat the front end of your amp is wimpy.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Fender did not give specs on Fender Standard Stratocaster (MIM) .
I guess they are medium, not low because these pu are mostly for Vintage series guitars.

It is my opinion

I checked the OP's previous posts, so I'm guessing we're talking about MIM Standard Stratocaster pickups here.
But a bit surprisingly, the description BMW-KTM wrote seems about right for the MIM's "Standard Single-Coil Strat®" pickups, too: mid to upper end of Medium. No high gain machines, but no vintage bells&angels either.

Those pups were "re-voiced" hotter in 2006, to satisfy the needs of the target group. But the basic design is vintage (although the magnet is ceramic) in the sense that they don't have any special noise reducing systems.
Tech lingo here, if it helps: http://guitarnuts2.proboards.com/thread ... el-pickups

On the noise/hum in general, what pickups do you (James2244) compare the MIM pickups with?
And, if you're thinking about a pickups replacement job, what are you looking for?

That is a very interesting article.
Particularly the last couple of posts that discuss the difference in strength of the magnet, where Antigua is referencing the effect at the top of the pole pieces.
It brings to mind some of the late-70s "bar" or "rail" (perhaps forerunners of the Hot Rails design) that had a completely hollow bobbin, with a ceramic bar magnet inserted so it was directly under the strings, rather than having the pole pieces (or blade/rail) as an intermediary.

This is the closest I can find... what I recall looked the same, but the bobbins were creme and the magnets the typical dull grey of a ceramic bar.

BTW: Be careful Googling "70s bar pickup" :D
