The only one that can truthfully answer that is you. Are you happy with the way it sounds now?

Red is a very hot Sensor indeed - 15k.

I have a Strat with Silver (7k), Blue (13k) and Red (15k) running in that order, neck to bridge. As calibrated sets go - that is extremely calibrated, if I may put it that way.

Silver in the neck with the tone way off is giving me the nice warm jazzy sound I like ever more, these days. Moving in stages I arrive only occasionally at the bridge where that Red is providing an uncompromisingly aggressive lead sound: if my amp is just on breaking point on the neck pickup then we are into hard drive at the bridge.

That's fine, used appropriately, and I have a lot of time for that guitar. But it sounds like you are talking about a full set of Red Sensors, which just seems over the top to me. What would be the point; what sound are you chasing?

Remember the sensational tones Clapton still gets when he uses his Gold equipped Strat. And if I have it right, Pete Townshend is using Golds too - and there is nothing bashful about his sound. If you want a change, go for a Red by all means, but I strongly suggest you make it part of a calibrated set.

Whatchathink?

Cheers - C
