Just picked up a ‘70s Strat, far from stock. I gently pulled it apart to check out the date codes and such. Here are the pictures with some questions. This isn’t my first ‘70s Fender but it is my first Kahler-equipped guitar. Thanks for looking.
As it sits now, I think it was repainted. Most of it feels decent but there are some areas of orange peel feeling. It doesn't bug me at the moment as I have had guitars restored in the past and didn't intend this to be a collector's piece anyway. I may return this one back to stockish but the 80's mods just look cool. I'm unsure how happy I'll be with the function of them though.

It has a Kahler and active EMGs; I don’t know much about either but I wish I knew more about what EMGs they are. Pot codes indicate '86. I think the Kahler is a 2200, correct me if I’m wrong.

Neck stamping, looks to be very early ‘75 but neck plate says ‘74.

The neck pocket. I'm pretty sure it is a Fender body however the stampings are hard to read in some cases. I cannot find that matching 4 digit code on it so it may worry me a bit. I'm ok if it was worn off as long as this is a genuine Fender body from the '70s. I have seen some neck pockets with those 2 extra holes and some without, I'm unsure about them other than maybe they were to mount the body as it was being painted.

The pickup routing is next, looks like the '70s style, squared pockets. I haven't delved this far into a '70s Strat though.

The back trem route, I'm not sure if this guitar was originally natural color or if this guitar was routed more in that area. I know the top has been for the Kahler.

That's about it for now. Any and all help appreciated as I figure out this guitar. Thanks.

The digits on the neck are 09 for Stratocaster, 03 for maple neck/fretboard, 03 build week of year (197)5, and that's the 2nd day of the week, also Tuesday (that would be Jan 14th, 1975).

I'd raise your trem estimate a bit, and guess it's some variation of the 2300 series - but there were real many so can't be sure.

And for the EMG's - what's in the bottom side? (= Mo' pics, please...)

The "Natural" could have been the original color - bless your lucky stars it ain't original Mocha Brown...
I'll get back on those neck pocket stamps, but so far nothing alarming.

I put a Kahler trem on an '84 Hondo model H1 (squished Explorer). It came with a Fender style trem, and I wanted to install a Floyd, but I didn't want to route that type of recess into the body and didn't trust the plywood to hold together. The Kahler seemed like a more solid mount.
Compared to the Floyd on my Kramer "V", I preferred the Kahler.

Very nice.
They did a clean job wiring it. I'm curious what type of insulation is on those EMG signal wires, as it looks like the shield/ground conductors are soldered directly to the volume pot without the signal conductors having been slipped out!
