Hi, I have a 85' CTE-50M Telecaster with a 'F' stamped in the pocket of the body. Anyone know what it stands for?

Japanese Fenders/Squiers often have a (at least red and black ink were used) thickish letter (sometimes inside a circle) stamped on the neck end and/or neck pocket bottom.
AFAIK, nobody knows the decoding. A certain letter does not seem to belong to any certain feature of the body, neck, finish, model etc.
My best guess is, they're inspection marks, maybe belonging to a certain worker or worker section.

BTW, I know this applies to multiple guitar/bass models, but why a Tele question on the Strat section?
