The OP says he accidentally removed the stickers from the headstock and has now trouble to find the S/N.

The Serial Number is on the heel plate...just like they were in 1962.

I'll join the choir and sing along: "It's legit! It's beautiful!"

I have the specs, if you don't get them from Fender - they'll say it has "American Vintage Strat" pickups. If I were a gambling man, I'd bet they're the 57/62 set.

The wiring should be similar to the 'regular' AVRI 62, except for the tone pot wires.
In a way, this was a predecessor to the new American Originals - 9.5" radius and bigger-than-vintage frets. BTW, the neck on this guitar must be one of the chunkiest on Strats.

Ditto.
The CE and E-waste stickers on the neck plate, are not likely to be faked by a counterfeiter.
Adding the lack of a teardrop, and the cutout in the pickguard for the truss rod adjustment, I'd agree that it's legit.

That’s a stunning looking Stratocaster, Foivos. Nice grab.

I agree about checking the electronics.

I have a good friend who is well versed in guitars with a large collection and he has worked alongside a number of known artists. He managed to trade an LP for what he believed to be a 1963 Strat. Initially it was based on the overall visible characteristics, and trusting the previous owner. That exchange was in ‘94. Recently, he needed to adjust the slab board neck via truss rod, etc. He decided now was a good time to do some removal to look at the details.

When he took the neck off he found the date code not stamped but penciled on it’s heel (as was common in those days).

He then checked dates on the metal stamped pots and the period correct wiring with original soldering. All good.

I think he must have had to sit down because it was not a ‘63 Strat. It is in fact an authentic original 1960 Stratocaster! :D The body is the only questionable part of the mystery. Original and custom colour charts were referenced. The burgundy like colour (not the listed Burgundy Mist Metallic of the 60s) is possibly a refinish, an unlisted custom colour, or other. It looks original with no overspray on another colour. I’ve seen some 60s with and without bare wood in pockets where many would have either. Pre-62/63 Fenders would likely have a lacquered neck pocket like this one. The neck pocket and routing for the pups and electronics are roughly painted as would be expected. I’m sure some here are aware that it is a questionable practice for some guitarists to scrape paint away in the neck pocket to affect sustain. No scraping here.

His body is not showing any code or ID as everything has paint of some condition. Nail holes check out; but, the check for possible tell tale filled dowel holes and clamp marks used for cutting the body are yet to be discussed as I mentioned to him. These markings can provide further assurance of a vintage Fender body, not necessarily a vintage (and maybe new) other brand, and not necessarily a given year. The problem is his finish and others may not reveal those marks if any at all.

So what we do know is that it is a 1960 Stratocaster neck complete with clay dots, pre-CBS spaghetti logo, a worn headstock decal, 1960 dated electronics, proper wiring, and period correct pups on an original pickguard with a body yet to be confirmed if ever.

There ya go. The neck and electronics will be 2 of your best friends when searching the authenticity, confirming the body and serial number will be a bonus. Paperwork . . . well, we all know how that works.

Buying vintage when new . . . doesn’t get any better than that.

I managed to register my guitar and talk with a guy from Fender Support. He said there's nothing to worry about.
All your answers that my guitar is legit made me sooooo happy :-)
In a few days I'll do a removal and i will post some pictures.

Thanks again for your kindness and have a fender night from Athens!

They dont have to fake those stickers, they already come on every guitar.

I also would like to see pictures of the neck heel, neck pocket and electronics. If Fender has no record of the serial number, that could mean something..... or not. :?:

True, but it's also the first thing that would tend to be removed after the pickguard cover, and not something someone building a Partscaster, even with intent to sell as real, would think to include. They also are not on replacement neck plates, so a Partscaster not built from another guitar would not have them.
When did they start putting them on? My '17 AmSpec is the first time that I've noticed them. My '14 Epiphone G400 didn't have them on the guitar itself (set neck, so no plate), and I don't remember them being on my '94 Squier.
