Hi,

Now that the v-mods have been out for a little while, I'm interested to know what people think of them compared to others available on the market?

I have an American Professional Strat in SSS config and think they sound great BUT, it's my first Strat (my first 'proper' guitar really, all things considered) and I haven't got much of a pickup history to judge against.
I want the guitar to be a well balanced all rounder for home studio use as opposed to trying to emulate a particular artist. Sonically, I exist throughout the realms of Mogwai/Pink Floyd/War on Drugs/Biffy Clyro etc. Bell like cleans and liquid smooth leads from the bridge (whilst retaining the classic quack from 2 & 4). No Djent tones required, haha.

I know this is a fairly abstract subject and down to personal taste but since they've not been out all that long I've struggled to get any good comparisons to work off of and hoped some of you, more experienced than I would have some real world experience and thoughts to throw my way.

Cheers, D

I love them. Since getting my Am. Pro Strat almost all other Strat pickups sound thin and weak in comparison. But, unlike other fat Strat pickups, the V-Mods still nail the vintage Strat sound and attack, without sounding lacking in highs and dynamics, or being too compressed sounding. I think Tim Shaw really advanced the art of pickup design with these. I do still love my CP 60s Strat and it's CS 69 pickups too.

I read where the middle is RWRP but is the wire also shielded?
Do they sound less noisy in the 1, 3 , and 5 positions than usual ?

Couldn’t say. Not opened it up yet. Haven’t had any noise issues but then again, I’ve only ran into a Fractal at home thus far without any external interference to contend with.
