He used 1968 and 1969 models with the "big peg" headstock. It wasn't a '70's strat because if you notice, his guitars aint got the '70s fender bullet truss rod and it hasn't got the oak wood like down the back of the neck.

Well i knew he used a flying v shortly before his death ( Correct me if im wrong on that), but the fact he used an SG is news to me. But then again i am not the hugest hendrix fan in the world... but his music is great and i like his guitar in the songs.

He used a flying v all through 1967 and 1968 as his secondary guitar and he still used them every now and again like at the Isle Of Wight festival. He quite rarely used a Gibson custom shop SG with three humbuckers.

Before Jimi hit it big he was playing a Fender Duo Sonic then at the Cafe Wha where he was being watch by promoters he started to play a White Strat that was givin to him and while playing there Keith Richards girlfriend gave him a 1963 White Strat that belonged to Keith. She brought the Stones to the Cafe Wha to see him play. Thats part of the article where they interview Tony Garland Jimi's associate who owns the a burned guitar about to be sold which is a 1965 Strat.

Ya he was first photographed playing a Black Les Paul at Filmore East in 1968 he also played a Flying V and he gave it to Mich Cox and replaced it with a SG Custum until he got another Flying V

The Stratocaster was his main guitar but just to add a few more to the list. I had a poster of him playing a Rickenbacker and a picture of him in some liner notes playing a les paul junior

Mick Cox was the lead Guitar for Eire Apparent and toured with Hendrix he then played for Van Morrison. Story has it he sold the Fly V to a place called Orange Music who then resold it to Mick Box of Uriah Heap. Then years later someone Dave Brewis bought it. There is a book called Crosstown Traffic that is about Hendrix and on the cover is a picture of him holding the Flying V
