No worries.

It's a normal behaviour.

Look for quality components on the ends. Name brands like Neutrik, Amphenol, Switchcraft are all very good stuff. If the cable company used those ends, odds are the rest of the cable is probably good stuff.

You can bend the bar or have a custom one made so it doesn't hit.

Is the spring missing or broken? It helps keep the arm in the proper orientation. No need to wind it as tight as it will go either.

The bar angle is affected to some degree by how you have the bridge set up.

Having the bridge flush on the body will make the bar stick way up high when the bar is pointing towards the neck, and way down low when it's pointing toward the rear.

Setting the bridge to a high float (rear of the bridge higher than 1/8" above the body) will let the bar spin almost parallel to the body. Might be high enough to rotate the bar, but you might have to pull up on the bar a little as it passes over the cord.

But typically, the cable will interfer with the bar. Normally you have to remove the cord to unscrew the bar (or to screw the bar in).

The only way to avoid it is to use a cord with a short-body jack. Some cords with molded ends will clear (but they tend to be crappy cords). George L plugs might be short enough.

But short-body jacks are hard to grab hold of to pull them out of the recessed jackplate.
