My late bro-in-law left me 2 stratos. I have problem on authenticity of 1, plate serial # 100039 is triangular but tremolo cover is round & no Fender logo on reverse side. It's head indicates "Fender STRATOCASTER with syncronized tremolo" & indicating patent #· Do I really have a relic? Would appreciate clarity. Thanks.

Without several good pictures, no way of telling anything about the guitar. Lots of fakes out there that someone put on a fake decal or serial number, so decals and serial numbers mean nothing without the verification that pictures can provide.

If you are saying that it has a 3-bolt neck plate, I am not aware of any 3-bolt necks that did not have the "F" on them, and none had serial numbers... the serial numbers were part of the headstock decal on the 70's CBS models.

Serial number stamped on a blank neck plate would have been pre-CBS, or a more modern relic, but that would be a 4-bolt neck plate.
"100039" does not sound like a legitimate serial number for a 3-bolt model or a modern relic.

The serial numbers were on the neck plate until around ‘76, then they were moved to the headstock. I’m not sure about the serial number being legit, anyone can get a neck plate with a serial number and add it to a guitar, nor whether or not the serial number is a “period correct” number. But I think you are correct about the F on the neckplates.

And again, without pics, no telling what it is.
