On the accuracy of the Gallagher guitar reproduction: we've got to remember that was done in the earlier days of the replica quest. By the latest standards of verisimilitude achieved by the Custom Shop it is primitive - but then I guess at that point they were trying to give a general "idea" of the original, rather than a scratch for scratch facsimile. I can remember reviewers gasping with amazement over the achievement of that Tribute guitar at the time (while the rest of us tried to get our heads around the whole notion of stalking a player in this way).

The wrong number of holes on the pickguard really is a bit sloppy, though.

Cheers - C

Two notes:

1) Fender now does the original 11-hole pickguard on the repro.

2) Since it was considered "primitive" why doesn't Fender start doing a better job now that they're considered to be more experienced with reproductions of famous Fenders?

Sadly, John and his Strat taken the day he died. You can find a bigger picture of this shot contained in the "John Lennon collection" released in 1982 as the inner sleeve for the record.

Anytime, glad you like them. There are not many pics of the Beatles using Fenders, especially in the early days. John and George both received '61's for free. Rumor has it John kept his and used it from time to time, and on the Imagine sessions. George painted his and it became "Rocky"
I would love to find more Beatle pics. I think George used a Strat on the All You Need is Love TV special, but I can not be certain. I did not find much on McCartney. I can only imagine he played them, but I can find no pics as of yet. I am working on it though:)

Known mostly as a Bass player, Sting at Live Aid '85. This was not the first time he used his "Black Strat" in a live performance. The first was the Secret Policemen's Other Ball, also starring Jeff Beck and Eric in 1981. Sting used his Strat extensively on The Dream of the Blue Turtles Tour.

Jeff Beck is one of my favorite guitarist. Did you see him and the young girl ( blowing up that bass ) during one of the Crossroads specials. She is something to watch! Amazing!
