Yup that would be it. Displayed a little differently now (just saw it two days ago) so you can see it from the back as well.

Here's an interesting page about the "Woodstock Replicas." There's one pic of Fender's Mike Eldred with the original.

Not to be denied: Pete Townshend (at the Roundhouse, by the look of it).

Nice thread, by the way, Highbinder :)

Really!

I have been trying to find old pictures of Jeff Beck's stratocasters. Ones he played in the '60s and '70s, but I haven't had any luck. There's one strat he had with a modified pickguard. He also played some cool '50s strats. I could scan in a picture from a book I guess.

Ah, Orville: speaking of minds working in strange ways. I suppose it would have been redundant to ask me if you had not yet seen that. It was there the first time I visited EMP, but not thereafter. (They tell me Paul Allen is a bit dicey about having that guitar displayed.)

My stepson lives in Bellevue, and I try to get over to EMP whenever I'm out there. Will be in the area for 10 days. Flying out on the 15th.

Have they put back the exhibit? Must tell you how impressed with the grungy look of that guitar. Bridge all rusted and the like.

Noting our recent discussion....revisit the tint of the neck on the Holly and the Brownie. Definitely NOT as deep as the Gilmour.

Doc

Yep! I was about to say: "We know where that one can be seen." A very interesting exhibit.

All members of the forum must make the pilgrimage to EMP!

Now THAT's the one they should have done the Artist series with, just like the Costello Jazzmaster...but No!
I'll bet that'll be saved for the 25K 'Tribute' collection and, believe me, you don't need me to give Fender any ideas. It's likely already on the list.

The picture I posted above was not taken by me, I found it on the web. Brownie was on display when I visited EMP in April 2007. The display was much simpler and smaller; it was standing vertically in a small display case. If they change things a lot, it might not be there today.

The tint on the neck of the Gilmour looks too yellow in the pictures I've seen. But they may not accurately represent what it looks like in person. The tint of the neck of old Strats vary; depending on how and where they've spent their lives.

BTW, I've got a 1995 MIJ "50s Telecaster" that's got a very nicely amber-tinted V neck ... you'd probably love it. But I don't have enough experience with V necks to say if it's a weak or a strong V.

These appear to have been culled from the auction catalog.
