Awesome deal, good for you! I once was so smitten with a brand-new Les Paul at Guitar Center, I bought it on the spot. The guitar list price was $1900, and I got them down to $1800 (probably could have whittled it further down, but I stupidly didn't). I paid the amount in a combination of GC gift cards, some store credit they owed me, and the balance on a credit card. It was not until months later that I realized through the combination of payments I actually paid the whole $1900!!! Stupid me, but I was so geeked up in the moment (for the first time in my life) to own a "proper with all-the-frills" Gibson Les Paul, they could have charged me $3000, and I probably would have not even noticed. LOL

I think I am repeating myself, but I love your new Strat. That gold is awesome... I hope you play the crap out of it. Very nice!

Thank you 01GT eibach.

Cool story about your Les Paul, do you still have it?

Yeah, it is a 2010 Les Paul Standard Traditional Pro -- the original "Trad Pro" that existed from 2009-2011. Then in 2012, the word "Standard" was removed from the Trad Pro model name along with a slew of changes and "Trad Pro" variants that exist to this day. The guitar was amazing ... weight relieved but not chambered, individual coil taps for significant tone diversity, amazing pickups (Burstbucker 3/Classic 57), Grover locking tuners, a slim 60s neck, a plain maple cap (which I prefer), mahogany body and neck, antique binding/pickguard, and a beautiful headstock that said only "Gibson" in mother of pearl and "Les Paul Model" -- perfectly classic. It played like dream (possibly due to the new "PLEK" setup? I don't know). Wow, Gibson made a Les Paul exactly how I wanted it, and the cost was $400 less than a Les Paul Standard which were heavier, had a larger neck, and (to me) did not play as nicely . The color was a spectacular Heritage (cherry) sunburst. The guitar was put on display in the closed-off "Gibson room" at Guitar center just the day before, and it looked like I was the first to play it. I played it less than 5 minutes, and told the dude to wrap it up. I had never owned a Les Paul, so it was kinda emotional for me ... LOL. Yeah, I still have it. Very much so.

(If any of my model history is wrong, please feel free to correct me...)

Blue Notes I couldn't hear your spoken narrative .. you might have said this, but

OK that's a set of Pure Vintage '59 Pickups that sound so good.

From what I've read (just now): All positions - Alnico V, 5.9k, non RWRP mid.

My current basis for comparison are:

Eric Johnson: Br - Al III, 6.74k; Mid - Al V, 6.55k RWRP; Nk - Al V, 6.04k.

Amalfitano SP: Alnico V set - Br - 7.02k, Mid - 6.42k RWRP, Nk - 6.17k.

Sounds like I could give up a little output strength & still be happy.

Do you miss the RWRP Middle Pup?

danagos, yes they are the pure vintage ‘59 Stratocaster pickups. I love the way they sound, and no I don’t miss the RWRP middle at all.

Is the neck shape the same as a 56 reissue? I know it has a 9 1/2 radius. I’m interested in the shape.
Thanks.
