Hey guys, just picked up this 1997 strat plus. I am still fairly new to stratocasters so my knowledge is somewhat limited. From what I can see the guitar seems to be in pretty nice condition with only a few minors dings and scratches. Electronics sound good. Only thing notable to me is the frets seeming fairly worn, but again Im a noob so maybe my pics will shed more light. Paid $600. Came with original hardcase and all paperwork.

Just wondering what you guys would value this guitar at? Is there any problem that you can see from the pics?

I love learning about these guitars and its cool to have a place like this to come to. Thanks ahead of time!

Nice score there Tommy.

I have 3 - '90 Fender Strat Plus's

That's a good price for that guitar.

I paid $325 for 1 and $800 each for the other 2 .

They are all keepers my guitar collection.

In my 'hood, one does not get Pluses for that price. Congrats on the new family member.

On the problems? part, nothing alarming. The frets have enough mass for more than one level/crown/polish fret job.

BTW, you can post pics straight on the forum, like this:

Plus are one of the best Fender guitar to me.

As I see on picture, frets need to be re-crowning, they may buzz.

Think I'd be fitting the original LSR fixing screws - they look positively dangerous! Otherwise, nice one!

Cheers - Peter.

Yeah congrats.
What he means is the screws holding down the nut are not the originals.
The proper ones are less obtrusive and are countersunk so as not to be proud of the nut. :D

As for the screws Ill be looking for the right ones to swap them out.

The owner had told me everything was original but the strap locks, so if that is the case would this definitely be a Strat Plus Deluxe? I have read that the plus deluxes have no holes in the back plate because they do not get stung through the back but as you can see mine isnt solid.

Ive contacted fender support for more info on this guitar so i should hear back soon.

Thank you guys for all the help

Deluxe Pluses also feature a Lace Value pickup set and a mini-Floyd bridge.

The picture shows a regular Plus with Lace Golds and an American Series tremolo assembly. Either it's a Deluxe Plus which has been converted into a regular Plus or a modded Plus with a pearloid pickguard fitted in. And since it's a '97 model I suppose it was one of the very last Pluses produced before the official launch of the American Deluxe series the following year.

Some earlier Deluxe Pluses came stock with a Deluxe pop-in whammy bar - a common feature found on guitars produced between 1989 to 1993. They also featured two Silver Sensors in the neck & middle and a Blue Sensor in the bridge.

In 1993 the Deluxe Pluses got a Lace Value pickup set and a mini Floyd Rose bridge. The Wilkinson roller nut was replaced by the LSR variant.
