Hello!

While looking for a good post-1998 (more period correct) AVRi '57 Strat I came across this particular guitar. It's in Candy Apple Red and in what appears to be a fantastic condition but there are some details that make me hesitate.

Neck date reads 8.16.98. Dot spacing on the 12th fret seems period correct, but I'd like to know what a more professional eye could see.

Body date is rather hard to read. It seems to be April 24 1998 but from differen angle I see 1990 which is strange. Also there's a V letter in the cavity. What that means? Is it for soft V profile neck? I'm not a specialist in Stratocaster body contours but I've browsed through some photos and I think this Strat's body is incorrect although I'm not 100% sure.

Pickup covers and other parts are in white. As far as I know period correct 57s have cream parts but maybe on the first "correct" Strats they have been using white covers that left in stock? Also what about pickups and pots, are they stock?

Serial number is V091437. Guitar comes without case and papers.

Here's the photos: https://imgur.com/a/fIc5Z

So what do you guys think on this? Is it possible to find "period correct" neck on "period incorrect" body? It seems like this Strat was made during the transition from older Vintage Reissue to newer American Vintage Reissue.

Thank you in advance.

The "V" looks more like an "L" to me. Or possibly a "7".

The date stamp in the neck pocket looks like '98 to me in both pics. Rubber stamps on wood are often "broken" looking with small parts missing or blurred, but even in the second pic the 8 is narrower at the top, not a perfect oval like a 0 would be.

Body edge radius looks right - definitely not the smaller radius the earlier ones had. Contours look correct, within the tolerances of hand shaping/sanding.

Hate to say I've never paid too much attention to the plastics on RI's. If you're buying it as an investment I guess that makes a difference.

Run what info you have through customer relations via email, that should help. Or give them a call w/ the serial.

FYI, Sweetwater has a nice period correct(minus paint type) MIM FSR in Fiesta Red very similar to the 57', its $900 w/ case.
