I have recently purchased a 94-95 fender mim strat, black line off ebay for $250. However after doing some research I see that this is a (somewhat) rare guitar. Although “fender” on the headstock is in black lettering there is no “squire series” on the headstock and it doesnt appear to be sanded off. The pickups seem nice but there is so much buzzing and clicking that it definitely needs to be repaired/replaced. Im unsure if I found a great deal or got ripped off to be honest.

My question is, is this a quality guitar? Did I overpay? It does need some work so im trying to get a better idea of what I have before I put money into it. Thanks ahead of time

All MIM Fenders of that era weren't 'Squier Series'. Could be a 'Traditional'.
The product registration page doesn't recognize that serial, so maybe try emailing Consumer Relations via the support pages with the serial and check if they can help.

On the forum, pics (plenty and detailed) are a must if you want reliable help.

In my 'hood, that price would be cheap for any legit MIM.
If you can DIY, rewiring and maybe new switch, pots and shielding (plus of course a full setup) aren't a major investment.

I was under the assumtion that “Black Label” was the squier of those years. I can tell its not a standard MiM because of the cheap tuners and bridge parts. Those can be easily upgraded but as far as wiring goes I have no idea what im doing. I will upload pics for more help. Thanks for your input pal
