I removed the pickguard on my 2008 American Deluxe to get a lost pick. I found a sticker on top of a lacquered over sticker in the pickup cavity.

The lacquered over one on the bottom has a Cherry Sunburst paint code.

The one on top has a Tobacco Sunburst paint code, which was what the guitar was advertised as.

Looking up images it seems that it's not brown enough to be Tobacco Sunburst, but definitely not red enough to be Cherry or even Sienna.

Thoughts?

Hmm...
The Frontlines 2007/2008/2009 give the Aged Cherry (Sun)Burst (color code 731 in the model number) and Tobacco Sunburst (752). options on AmDlx Ash version (010-1400/1402), and to me, that guitar sure looks like the Aged Cherry.

Check the serial number with Fender Consumer Relations via the support section, they can usually provide the original specs.
On the sticker dilemma, I've no other answer than 'it happens'...

And the forum websystem likes pic addresses starting with "http", ending with "jpg" to get pics visible on the forum. Like this:

Color photos can be hard to pick.
The earlier deluxes were easier since the cherry came with a pearloid guard.
I see a bit more tobacco in this one than cherry but without seeing it in the flesh hard to be sure.
The tobacco is certainly more brown in the burst whilst cherry is obviously red.
Some of the frontlines picture tobacco and call it cherry so go figure. Sienna was not used on the deluxes in this period.
I had an earlier post with a pic of all the reds but my photobucket account has gone :D

On my computer it looks like my Sienna Burst, but color is tough unless one is holding it in the light. Either way it sure looks very nice

Ha we could go on. All in good humour of course
I have had all three back then .... the sienna only came as std and hss.
It was not available as a deluxe at that time.
This is 2008 we are talking about and if you look at the fretboard it has abalone dots.
Assuming no body swap it could only be cherry or tobacco.
Put your money down stratele52 :D

I see no brown from OP's picture, but definately see the red. If Sienna wasn't available that year, it's Cherry Sunburst. Pretty guitar.

Well as I said it is all in the lighting.
The op has said he bought it as tobacco
The code color is tobacco ... cherry is 31
The deluxe aged cherry to 2008 had a pearloid pickguard.
Sienna was never offered on the deluxe around this time.
Not sure how many facts are required here to prove a point...
Hopefully the op can get the definitive from Fender then you can all laugh if I am wrong. :D
Here is one of mine cherry with an altered pickguard 2007

The AmDlx Ash version (010-1400/1402) didn't have the pearloid garments.

This one's a 010-1400-731, Aged Cherry for sure. No Tobacco. No Sienna. No regular Cherry.

Link and picture relating to the guitar you are talking about would be handy sir.
I think they changed it 2010 with the N3s.
I had two both with pearloid and yes if you want to be specific aged cherry
Here's the 2004 pdf aged cherry pickguard white pearl
