Some Fender neck plates (IE my 50th anniversary Strat) have 5 holes. What is the purpose of the 5th hole? Does it allow some adjustment? I can’t find where this question has been addressed but if it is a duplication, please direct me to the explanation.
Thanks in advance.

The small hole is for the micro-tilt adjustment that allows you to adjust the neck angle. It's pretty rare to need to adjust it.

Fender's setup guide explains microtilt. Check the section on "shimming/Micro-Tilt":

...And here's the Fender Tech Talk Article about the Micro-Tilt™ mechanism...
