so.. found this secondhand guitar on a website and I've already ordered it, but I'm having second thoughts about it and wondering if I should cancel the order while I can. Sorry if it's obvious, it's going to be my first electric guitar

The truss rod area and saddles don't look right.

Well, to the question 'real or fake', it appears to be real to me.

Not a real Fender Stratocaster, but certainly a real guitar...!

Cheers - Peter.

All the standard characteristics of a fake in one guitar.

No truss rod hole trim, MiA should have Walnut.

Wrong saddle type for MiA

12th fret markers are too far apart

Plastics are too thick for single colour white ...wrong style of Strat to have single colour white as well.

The lacquer on the headstock is too thick and shiny, and the wrong colour.

MiAs do not have anything under the heel plate.

A prime example of a Chender if I'm not mistaken.

It might be a Squier with a logo change, and resprayed neck to hide the fact, but I doubt it even has that pedigree.

It might play OK but will always be a shopping car with racing stripes and an eBay Turbo badge on the boot/trunk. I.e. a massive embarrassment if ever in the company of people who know stuff.

They didn't mask the nut off properly when they resprayed it .....if you zoom the headstock pic up , you can see that clearly, you can also see the fake logo is not even a decent print , the edges are blurry

I don't get a respray feel of that neck. Or a second hand feel of the guitar in general - looks scratchless like it's never been played.
My guess is, the guitar is just one of those Chinese copies.

Anyways, fake as the above posts say.

No pic of the serial number either plus have you ever seen a MIA Strat or Tele with such a deep stained neck?

Only the Eric Johnson model.
The guitar pictured above has never seen the inside of a Fender production facility.

I was thinking a re-done Squier too. The Chinese Fenders I have seen are much harder to detect than this example.
