Hi everyone,

I'm trying too identify what kind of strat I have. It was sold to me in 2004 as a strat plus deluxe, but after a little searching I'm not convinced.

It has the sperzel locking machineheads and gold lace sensors but no rolling nut and a search of the serial comes back with :

1995 AM STD STRAT GR RDY MN BSB

It has a wilkinson VS50II that I assume was a retrofit

Is anyone able to shed some light as to what this may be. At present my best guess is a modified standard strat, a plus with a standard nut or a partscaster of some sort.

Let me know if more info is required

Many thanks,

Chicken Head

Seems this forum was too slow for the answer - apparently you were the victim of the dreaded first post delay policy... (To Forum Moderators, in case they browse these through: that delay may not be a very welcoming gesture to new members - maybe reconsider..?)
Anyway, welcome.

Asked and answered (with help from Fender Support; even they were faster than this forum...) on http://www.strat-talk.com/threads/herlp ... at.455765/
I just wonder why the modder took off the Micro-Tilt™ plate...

Hi, yes it seems that way. Was a bit frustrating that it took the fender forums longer but in fairly satisfied with my answers.

Nonetheless, I'm open to more suggestions

My best guess would be the same you already got; an AmStd Roland Ready neck with an American Standard; or (not so likely) Plus; or (one more possibility) 'Deluxe AmStd' body (body age estimation: late eighties/early nineties), and some mods on hardware/electronics.

The Gold Laces might point to that latest option (DlxAmStd) as well as to a Plus. To me, those pickups suggest it was more likely customised for a player than just assembled from random leftover parts. Lots of extra holes in the neck pocket, so the body may have gone through several incarnations, including a possible respray.

So, it's a "Partscaster" - but I don't use that as a negative description here.

It's not a legit&original Strat Plus, so the price you paid should be judged against that.

My thoughts entirely.

PUP's are so easy to change that Lace Sensors doesn't really indicate anything aside, at some point in time, someone fitted them.

The swimming pool route would suggest the body is older than the neck perhaps.
