Some of those foundation guitars are nice but I am afraid neither of these would ever be on my buy list.
Like the blonde and the 22 fret neck on the first though.
Maybe at the time they came up with both of these the fender crew were smoking to many of their life time limited warranties.. :D

Charming. So you introduce yourself to the forum extolling the virtues of the Telecaster in the Stratocaster area of the forum and then get upset if someone comes up with a contrary view?

And with regards to your less than polite comment regarding my previous post, if you were to read it properly, the key word is "produce"; as in the present.

I wasn't commenting on what Fender may have done in the past as they have put out some pretty weird stuff; including the bastard love child of a Telecaster and Stratocaster that was obviously so commercially successful that 6 were enough to satisfy the market.

Just for the records: You were the one coming to my thread with snarky and clueless remarks. So don't place yourself next to the cooker if you can't stand the heat!

"Just for the record", in an open forum, you don't need permission to post on a thread. You may be the OP but it isn't "your" thread. While I admire your passion perhaps in the future you might try to be more civil if someone offers an alternative view and provide a more considered response without resorting to name calling.

I agree that Teles generally sound different to a Strat but I am currently happy with Joe Bonnemassa's conclusion (approx 1:04 into the video listed above) that a hardtail Strat can give a "hybrid Telecaster sound". It is certainly as near as I need to get at the moment without all the issues of the original Telecaster that were designed out in its evolution to the Strat.

Many guitarists played Tele's "back in the day" as "back in the day" there wasn't the availability of alternatives that we enjoy now. Interestingly the Jeff Beck guitar which you sight (and is actually an Esquire) had the body contoured Strat style by its previous owner. Many of these now famous guitarists, in later years, have become more recognised for playing other guitars than a Tele. Many (most?) now famous guitarists will have started out on acoustic guitars but they aren't synonymous with acoustic playing.

The Tele does have a distinctive sound in the same way a battered parlour guitar might be great for authentic Delta Blues. A Tele can give that edge in classic early electric blues and is synonymous with country picking style music which is perhaps much more rooted in the past. It also has a distinctive shape which fits in with the image of certain music more appropriately/authentically than a Strat or other more modern guitar.

Would I ever buy a Tele? Perhaps. If I do it will be as near as I can get to an authentic early Tele though as that would be the whole point of buying a Tele. It wouldn't be some bastard Tele/Strat amalgamation that is neither fish nor foul.

Dude, you simply don't get it, do ya? Your last post proved it again: You are a Mr. Knowitall who obviously likes to do snarky and clueless remarks. Neither of that inappropriate behavior is entertaining nor is it grown-up.

So from now on I will ignore your "wisdom". Maybe you would be better off just following Zappa's advice....

Over and out.
