I won a lil'59 and a JB Jr. on Ebay. I put the 59 in the bridge and like it as it has a real vintage sound. I won the JB which I'm not sure I want (I accidentally won both pickups).

Can I put this pickup in the neck and how will it sound? I have an American Standard strat with stock pickups in the neck and middle.

I think it is meant for the bridge position. Should I put JB Jr. in the neck or should I just resell it?

Thanks.

Eric

Those pickups are "rails" style mini-humbuckers so technically
they can be put in any position because you don't really have to
worry about the poles lining up BUT...
The intention in the design of those pickups is to use
the JBjr in the bridge & the Lil59 in the neck.

Seymour Duncans site says:
"complete setup:
Available for both bridge and neck/middle positions; and in an incredibly
versatile set with an SJBJ-1b JB Jr. in the bridge, an SDBR-1n
Duckbuckers in the middle and an SL59-1n Little '59 in the neck."

Thanks man, one more question. Do they manufacture a JB Jr and Lil 59 differently for the neck and bridge positions? i.e. do they have a JB Jr. designed for the bridge and a JB Jr. designed for the neck which would both sound different in the same position? Thank you.

I want to make sure I'm not going to put a lil 59 which was intended for the bridge, into the neck. Thanks.

I have seen different neck and bridge versions of the same pickup, yes.

Me, i plan on finding a nice feeling/playing, moderately priced Strat and sticking a Duncan '59 in the neck and a JB in the bridge. It's going to be sweet. Anyone have this configuration on a SSS strat?

I would definately put that 59 on the neck & the JBjr in the bridge...
(assuming that is the bridge version of the JB u have...

Which probably begs the next question...
How do I know which one mine is? neck version? or bridge version?
I posed these questions on SD's forum: Click here to view my post.

I have used a JBjr in my 93 strat for years & it is great...
I am very interested in getting a 59 in the neck
Maybe put a coil tap on the mini-humbuckers
so I can access single coils still...

I got the answer in email from SD.
They said: "Hello! We make a SJBJ-1b for bridge and SJBJ-1n for neck."
