Hello
Picked up this Strat today.
What I was expecting to see was a 2000 Am Standard in Artic white.
What I ended up with is a 2001 American Series Strat in White Blond.
I must tell you , I'm not disappointed at all.
The picture did not show much, just a white Strat.
I really like the way the paint finish is thin and and I can see the grain quite clearly.
Also found out that the wood is ash and not alder.
All this information courtesy of Brad Shelton, Fender consumer relations.
Shout out to Brad!
It is grungy as all get out man.
The pick guard, fret board, body and chrome pieces all need a huge cleaning.
The volume pot has a little scratchy-ness going on so I'll have to see about that.
The neck is a little fat but feels nice.
What do you all think?
Need to update my sig.

Isn't that a American Deluxe?

Look at the saddle blocks.

Look at the saddle blocks.

8)

In those years the AS and AD Fenders both had 2 point trems and block saddles.
The AS block saddles were a rough finish (as shown in the OP's pic) and the AD saddles were polished.
MIA Teles had block saddles too; both Standard and Deluxe with the same feature of rough/polished.

----------------------

2000 was the year Fender started shipping MIAs with moulded cases instead of rectangular.
There were two levels of moulded cases for MIA guitars, just like the guitars; Standard and Deluxe.
The Standard cases were pretty much the same as the Deluxe cases except for some additional creases formed in, along the bottom edges, for increased stiffness on the Deluxe case and a slightly heavier duty hinge.
Very slightly.
Most people couldn't see any difference.
2000 was also a transition year with regard to the necks.
It was the year they introduced the 'rolled edge' neck.
Most 2000s had them but some few didn't.
Same for the cases. Most had moulded cases but some few came with rectangular.

For a 2001 to come with a rectangular case would have been an anomaly.
It always nice to see that rare case when not getting what you were expecting is a GOOD thing.
Congrats.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
