Hey guys and gals,
Had to do it sooner or later, ordered my second Strat a used 2001 American Standard in Arctic White with a rosewood fret board.
It comes with a white pickguard which is fine but I'm thinking I want a more colorful one.
I'm thinking a vintage mint green or maybe tortoise shell.
What do you think goes good with a white guitar?
If you have done what I'm looking to do, please share your photos.
Should be here by end of the week.
Thanks.

IMHO mint only looks right on a 60's "style" guitar. It just looks odd with modern hardware. The whole point of mint (originally) is it is to reproduce how original 60's white guards discoloured.

Also the only plastic which looks right with mint is aged white...which also looks wrong on a modern Strat.

Mint is pretty strange any way as, subject to the light, it can look cream or really green. Against white though it will probably always look green.

In summary....not mint.

Okay John I value your suggestion.
I’m sure you’ve been at this a lot longer than I and have seen more color options than a large box of crayons!
This is why I joined this site.
So what’s your opinion on a good color for my white Strats pickguard?

As to what might look good, that is all very subjective and down to personal taste.

Some will say Pearl but I hate Pearl so it wouldn't be my choice even though (to some) it will look good. I'm similarly not a great lover Tortoise but, again, that can look really good with a Rosewood neck.

If you want to stick with Fender you are running out of options. I really like parchment but it may not be enough of a change and I'm not sure about Parchment on white...it might look really good or it might not.

While a bit 70's I like black with black plastic and I particularly like the way black plates scratch up and look used in no time at all.

Gold anodised can look awesome on white but it is a bit of an acquired taste it would probably look better with a maple neck.

So not much help really. Sorry about that.

Yes, mint's a funny one. Looked awful on my Fiesta Red (now sporting parchment plastics all round), but looks nice on my Ocean Blue Metallic (remainder of plastics in parchment). Ad when I have this guitar refinished in Sonic Blue nitro soon, I expect it to look stunning!

Not sure what mint would look like on your particular white body (bearing in mind it has 16 years of fading on it) but I don't think you can go wrong with parchment all round. I certainly don't like cream - which I'm told is Fender's 'aged white' - on a white body. But of course you might!

Heading down to your local Fender dealer with your Strat and holding a couple of scratchplates against it is favourite. That's if it's convenient...

Cheers - Peter.

Tort would be my choice.

I really appreciate your advise and suggestions.
Could I get your opinions on any of these colors?
Thanks

Parchment.

Maybe that's what you have. Parchment is a subdued white, but not like aged. I'm thinking of switching my aged knobs and PUP covers to parchment to match pickguard.

I like White with black pickguard but keep the pup covers and knobs all white.

I must admit the black on white looks striking.
A very classic appearance.
Wonder if will look this good with a rosewood fret board.
Think I'll do what Peter S suggested and go visit my local Guitar Center when it arrives.
Thanks gents.

It can be quite helpful looking through the Fender products pages (as per clicky at the top) to see what combinations they use as standard.

I think they use mint on white on the MIM Standard...it looks terrible.

Parchment and Aged White (aka Cream as Peter S pointed out) on the MiA Professional looks OK but I think it is a better match to a maple board.

Aged White is another odd colour (like mint). It can look like off white or almost yellow subject to the lighting and pickguard combination.
