Came across an advert for a 2010 Mexican Road Worn Strat which has 22 frets. Did these Strats come with 22 frets as I thought all Mex Strats were 21 frets no?

All 2 road worn Strats I see in 2010 Fenter Frontline have 21 frets

Your Strats is not a 2010 or is not a mexican or is a partcaster or...

As the Roadworn Series were either 50's or 60's reproductions then, an alleged, 22 fret MIM Roadworn is wrong in many ways.

One of the new MIM Deluxes is 22 fret! I just got the midnight blue one! Nice Strat!

Most Strats that are MIM are 21 frets, but there are a few 22 fret models. I don't believe there was ever a 22-fret Road Worn, though (although I am not the consummate expert on such things compared to some other experts here).

That neck has the typical MIM features, so I'll risk a guess that it's from a Blacktop Strat. Those white ('ivory'..?) knobs aren't original for either model, though. Looks like a little roadworning done, too - but the pic is a bit lo-res.
And the body would pass for a Faded Fiesta Red Road Worn.

If you can't get info from the seller (they sometimes are surprisingly oblivious...), you could try the Product Registration Serial Number Search page (can't read the serial on your pic). Or, if that doesn't help, email Fender with the serial - they can usually provide the specs for a guitar built with that.

So, leaning towards a Partscaster - which doesn't spell as 'worse'. Looks legit, based on those pics.

In the 2010 Fender Frontline, there is no RW with this color.
Look not original worn by Fender, but I could be wrong, need better photos.
Tuning machines are not original as see in 2010 Fender Frontline.
Original contour body decal missing.

Look here how a Fender is worn ;

Show the serial number.

Looks like a Partscaster. Neck has certainly been sanded as it isn't off either official "Roadworn"models . One assumes the body has as well so you have no idea if it is Nitro (one of the main pluses for a Roadworn). The tuners look disgusting - I don't remember seeing white plastic buttons on any real Strat and they are wrong for a Roadworn.

A Serial number search will only return the details of the neck which absolutely isn't off a Roadworn.

Personally I'd give it a wide berth as they are way too many things wrong and (even if it was a MIM originally which I very much doubt) getting some sandpaper to a £350 MIM does not make it the same as £1100 "Roadworn".

To clarify matters Fender produce two "Roadworn" models. Both are (really rather good value for the money) reproductions of either "50's" or "60's" Strats. Both have nitro bodies, the correct era necks and all of the hardware features appropriate to the model years.

As a big fan of the "Roadworn" models, it really gets on my nerves when people list Strats as being "Roadworn" when they are no more than a cheap Strat that has been vandalised with sandpaper.

There was also the Road Worn Player Strat, 0131062303 or 0131062305 - plus of course the other Road Worn guitar models. All Road Worn Strats came, AFAIK, with 21 fret necks.
And the term is somewhat confusing, there's the Road Worn guitar series and then the Road Worn finish type - as with the Kurt Cobain Jaguar...

But you're probably right on the body being aftermarket aged; at least I didn't find a Fiesta Red Road Worn on a quick search. (A friend of mine had a Roadworn Fiesta red bass, so I took it for granted it was the series stock color.)

The serial check could tell the origins of the neck; which could confirm or deny the Partscaster theory and the legit MIM neck theory.

I think this is a (yet another) confusion in Fender naming. As far as I can find the only "Road Worn" Stratocasters I can find are the 50's and 60's versions which started in 2009 (see edit below)

We can pretty conclusively say that the guitar in the picture is neither a "Road Worn 50's Stratocaster" or a "Road Worn 60's Stratocaster". After that who knows. If I were buying a "Road Worn" it would have to be one of the two above.

[edit]

JM is right again ... I stand corrected. 2012 price list certainly shows "Road Worn Player". These are Urethane finish so don't have the advantages of the 50's and 60's "Road Worn"

There was also Road Worn Player HSS which came in Candy Apple Red or Inca Silver.

Yet another example of Fender Marketing jumping on the band wagon. No doubt buoyed up by the earlier success of the Road Worn 50's and 60's they thought "We'll have more of that!" and bought in the hateful Road Worn Players. I say hateful as anything with "Player" strikes me as a dodgy misnomer - I give you the Classic Player 50's, and Classic Player 60's which are bastard mash ups if ever I saw them.

[edit 2]

And I notice that the recent Brad Paisley Tele is also noted as Road Worn ... It obviously is a term for attacking with sand paper after all.

I agree. It would've been nice if Fender had upgraded the MIM Standards to a 22-fret neck, I can kinda' see why they might not want to do that.

They didn't put an extra fret to avoid production costs.
