where are you getting the breaks, at the saddle or is the ball/bullet breaking off? when i put bullets on i tin the ball/string joint just to secure it a bit more.

They always broke at the bridge saddles. I smoothed them out with a fine emory paper, and put a light coat of oil on the saddles, where the strings touched, but they still broke. The D'Addarios don't break, so now I just figured that it was the stings at fault.

I will agree with Chet about the Blue Steels and add the DR Pure blues to them. I have this idea that i should use only Fender stuff ( Amps,Straps,Tuners,Picks etc.), but the strings..... They really could be better.I would like a Fender Bullet set that would have the long life of the stainless steel series but with a sound between the originals and the DRs that i have on now. I know that i ask for too much, but I think that all of us, Fender players would prefer a good Fender string than any other make. As a new owner of a Strat guys (2008 Std Am. SSB with 3 Single Coils) I can't hide you that after 15 years of playing it's the first time that i can tell a difference between more makes of strings, sound wise. With my other guitars it was all sounding the same. Once again I'm extremely happy with my new guitar.Greetings from Greece to everybody.....

I'm sold on the Darco Funky's by Martin. They stay in tune all night and deliver just glass shattering high's and sustain.

I use DR Blues in heavy gauge. They sound great and still bend easy. I used to break Fender strings, always when bending the high E. The DR's never break, and I try sometimes just to see how far I can bend um.

Another satisfied D'Addario user!
I have used D'Addario 9's & 10's on my guitars for years & years.
I Love D'Addario strings!

I have to agree with alot of people here. Fender strings tend to break.. alot. I bought a new strat a couple of months ago and after a couple of days a string broke. They keep breaking all the time and the only spare set I have right now is a Fender set... not good. I think I'm going over to d'addario's soon. Seems to be a good pare of strings.
