so finally i got the parts for my strat! i got a PAF Pro F for the bridge, a True Velvet for the middle and on backorder is a PAF Pro for the neck. its going to be white pickups with a black pickguard. I ordered a Fender Upgrade 5 way, an Upgrade .02 Cap, and then a upgrade 250k for the tone and a Push/Pull Volume. I also ordered a killswitch kit for the current volume area, and then the volume will be put where the neck tone is, then the tone where the mid tone is. its going to have coil taps and the series switching for humbucker (full humbucker + single coil). also im getting all new wires and a new switchcraft jack. basically all the electronics are being swapped. its going to be pretty amazing actually, the difference in tones.

but as im waiting for the paf pro, i decided to make my way for a new bridge. ive been looking at a tremking. the tk-1, it takes a little bit of modding to get the thing to fit, but im getting my guitar routed for the neck pickup for free anyway (i already checked, its hss), so i might as well. does anyone think this thing is legit?

if not this type of bridge system, what else would be good? anyone want to see pics so we can compare before and after?

during this time period, im also looking for a straplock system. what fits in the strats current holes?

also, im getting a new neck for x-mas. im going to get block inlays, a flatter radius/compound radius (depends on my findings), stainless steel frets (standard strat size) and schaller locking tuners with possibly a rolling string tree and for sure a graphite nut. its also going to have 22 frets and a dual trussrod system.

thanks!

Sounds like a monster you're building there. The only thing I might suggest is that for another couple hundred dollars you could pick up a nice body and have a whole new guitar. There are at least a couple of guys who part out Fenders on ebay and if you're willing to go with a Made In Mexico Fender (I've had great luck with the couple I've bought), it won't cost you too much. If I were you, I would consider it anyway, before I altered the bridge cavity. As far as the pickup route, I think all strat and tele bodies should come H-S-H routed anyway. That's just my two cents...
When it comes to strap locks, I've had pretty good luck with the Schallers, althought I have Wilkinson locks on a few guitars and they also get the job done and tend to be a bit cheaper. The Dimarzio Clip locks also work great, but you are limited by the fact that the lock is part of the strap, so you won't be able to use your favorite strap with them. If I had to choose, I'd probably go with the Schallers, they're solid all around. Image

so do schallers fit right in?

and it would be another two hundred dollars for a body, plus, this body has some sort of sound to it that i cant find in any other strats. its much punchier. this is an mim btw, so i think this would be the best thing to do. thanks for your input!

does anyone have anything to say about the tremking though?

Be glad you have so many pictures of your guitar, so you can reference what an original Fender Stratocaster looks like. One day, when you have substituted and added all these products, you can stand in a big room in front of a loud 100 Watt amp. You can turn it up loud and wonder why it doesn't sound, or work, like a Strat. Even someone else's girlfriend might wonder what's wrong. I saw Jimi. I am Experienced. I was forty feet in front of "The Axis" of sound Jimi brought.

Ah-ha! A member of the Purist school of thought. I greatly sympathise, but we always need to remember the list of extraordinary players we'd have been counselling not to mess with their stock guitars - EVH, Gilmour, Clapton, etc etc. Probably a good thing they ignored us.

On the Jimi thing: one of the points of friction in my (hopefully) successful marriage is that my wife once saw Hendrix live, on a small stage in a north of England industrial town. And I never did. I've been trying to forgive her, ever since she first told me...

Howsabout a "guitarists we wish we'd seen" thread?

Cheers - C

just be aware that the trem king is not suited for heavey whammy use... it is more for vibrato effects, like a bigsby. if your looking for something with good whammy range... look into the Super Vee Double Locking Tremolo.

actually the tremking is suited for heavy use.

The TREM KING Vibrato System was born out of the desire of a player to have a useable vibrato for guitar that stays in tune all the time. Whether you are dive-bombing, doing reverse bends, drop tuning or playing double stops, the TREM KING will do just that.
