My son-in-law bought a fake Strat copy when he was in Korea. He paid the equivalent of $160 because (his words, not mine) he 'Just wanted something to noodle around on'. I bought it from him more out of curiosity than anything and was wondering if anyone can tell me where this was made, and by whom. It has an actual Fender logo, in the wrong place, no walnut around the truss rod hole, and several other things that just scream FRAUD. To be clear: I KNOW IT'S A FAKE!
It has, in the place where it normally says 'Original Contour Body' the phrase 'Original Eanlaun Body' or 'Badu', or something like that.
ALL of the chrome is an amazingly well done Fender ripoff, and has good replicas of the Fender logos where they're supposed to go. The pickup covers say "Noiseless', but the pickups are ceramic and NOT stacked. Nice 3-ply pickguard, solid wood body (more than likely basswood, from the weight).
The neck is awesome! It completely surprised me. The frets are finished beautifully and the neck is arrow-straight.

SO, I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what band of douchebags is pirating Fender stuff? I'm a collector and have several fakes just because I think it's an interesting thing. NO, I'll never sell them and I have them documented as faked in my records. I just want to know some info on this thing. Thanks, in advenac, for any info. I'll try to get some good pictures of it up when I get time this evening.

Spent some time in S Korea while in the Navy back in the 80's. Trust me, you could get a fake anything in Seoul and I doubt much has changed since then. "Members Only" leather jackets were a thing back then and fakes were in every street market. Probably half the crew bought one.

Pics of your guitar would be interesting and educational but don't know if it would help pinpoint the counterfeit builder.

Rumor is that the quality of Asian products, both legitimate and pirate, is steadily increasing. The neck quality on your guitar neck shows some anecdotal evidence to support that rumor.

That's one of the big mysteries and challenges on this forum. It can be done and I've seen instructions posted here and there in the past. I'm sure someone will walk you through it, but not me. :(

This forum's IMG-command understands (best) pics to be pics if the image address starts with "http" and ends in ".jpg" (or some other common picture file extension). And you can't upload a pic from your own pc/mac/tablet/phone, you need to upload it in the web.
If you use facebook (I don't), one way seems to be this: go to the 'Pics' section, right click the pic you want to post, choose "Properties", copy the image name and paste it with the IMG-command.

Here's an example pic from Fender's facebook - works when I preview it, let's see if it's in the final post:

PICTURES AT LAST HAHAHAHAHA! As I said, it's a pretty good replica. The logo is way wrong. What I'd truly appreciate help with is who made it! Thanks, again, everyone!

I don't know about playability & sound, but as far as looks go, I respectfully disagree with you. It's not a very good copy, and it's very easy to spot it as a fake. Well, on the other hand, easy-to-spot-as-fakes really might be the best kind of fakes...

It says made in USA but it was bought in Korea so you're assuming it was made in Korea.
Fair enough.
I would probably make that assumption too.

There are a few possibilities but I doubt anyone would be able to nail it down from a few pics.
I will hazard a guess but that's all it is, just a guess.

Several companies make guitars in Korea, the two main ones being Cort and Sammick.
There is also Saein (pronounced shine), UnSung, World Music (also called Instruments International) and Peerless.
Peerless no longer makes OEMs or knockoffs as they have their own lines now.
Cort and Sammick both make a lot of guitars for other well known brands so I doubt they would risk building such a guitar as yours for fear of losing their contracts.
I have a Cort made Korean Fender Strat and it's an excellent guitar.
I know very little about Saein or UnSung but I have heard a few things about World Music.
I'm not much of a gambler but if I were my money would be on World Music.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Thanks, BMW-KTM! The research I've done has kind of reinforced that. Not that it's a huge issue. I like the cheap thing and have it in an extremely playable state. I painted it Daphne Blue, replaced the trem block with a billet aluminum block (I make them), cleaned and re-lubed the tuners and replaced the ceramic pickups with some old generic Alnico IV hand wound jobbies and, after the typical setup, it plays and sounds truly wonderful!

I appreciate all of the help from everyone.
