I bought an mij strat and I believe it's a fake but need confirmation. It has the smaller 60's tuners but the later beefier Fender logo and has a k serial indicating 90-91. The polepieces on the pickups are not staggered and the pots are stamped in ink ST-2 but there is no stamping into the metal whatsoever. The switch.says made in us a but.doesn't match other MIJ's I've seen. The routing is.for humbucker single humbucker and there is no stamp on the heel of the neck or in the pocket the neck fits in. Also, there is no serial on the back of the neck and the front logo is flaking. Strap buttons also don't seem to match and the pickup leads are colored dofferently than I've seen. It was supposedly purchased in Japan originally by the guy I got.it.from at a store, new? Also, the bridge is a thinner style I. The part the strings run through and no t the thicker tone block I believe these all came with. https://youtu.be/A8_L2F8RfHs is the link to a video I made. I couldn't figure out how to post pictures. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to upload your pics to a website of your choice, (avoid photobucket) then copy the image address (starting with http, ending with .jpg) and use the IMG-command (paste the http...jpg address between the ][-brackets) when you write your message here (and test with the preview button).

High-res pics of every angle & detail helps diagnosing. But even with those, a domestic (for the Japanese) model MIJ might remain a mystery.
So: What model is the guitar supposed to be, is there any special reason to doubt what you were told by the seller, was the price as it should be for a 1990-1991 MIJ Strat?

Slightly off topic - why does everybody say to avoid Photobucket? I've always used it, and did so yesterday on my 'Plastics' post - no problem at all...

Puzzled!

Cheers - Peter.

Off topic, I know - sorry - but why, JM?

In the past, PB was just another image hosting website.
Then they started using so many pop up etc. ads, that visiting the site became almost impossible - here's a quote describing my experience, on May 12th this year:

Photobucket journey this time:
a Unibet pop-up,
then a 'print your photos' ad bar needing to be closed,
one "edge by udm" pop-up corner window,
then a qudsurvey pop-up,
then a "sponsored ads - continue to site" overlay pop-up,
then an "exception" error ad bar,
then, finally to the pics.

And now (since July) they have the 'new and improved' terms of use. "Third party image hosting" (= embedding pics e.g. on Fender forum) is only available for their Plus500 customers, yearly cost 399,99. This has caused a lot of embedded pics to disappear from websites (guitar related and others) - those were posted by people who didn't opt in to the new terms and new prices.

My recommendation to this is, boycot the service. There are better choices. And I feel greed should have some limits.

On your pics still showing: either PB renovation hasn't yet reached you or you are a paying customer.

Ah right, sorry JM, missed that. I'm not paying them, so I've obviously been lucky so far!

Just hope that whatever I have to use next isn't too complicated. PB was approaching the limit of my computer skills!

Cheers - Peter.

I just put my pictures on FarceBook and link to them from there. You don't really need to use it for anything else although there are some quite amusing Strat based sites.

I have my own domain for my work web site that I have used in the past. I don't use that now as it got shut down temporarily due to using too much bandwidth with people following links to images from forums. I wasn't best pleased as I thought the idea of a commercial web site was to get people visiting it not to discourage it.
