Just bought an Amercian Vintage Series '70s Strat used. I love it and it sounds great. The only thing that kind of bugs me is when the guitar is parallel to my amp I get some "buzz"/noise. When it's perpendicular to the amp, there is no noise at all. I'm wondering if it could be my cables. Setup is Guitar--->Ibanez TS-9--->Marshall MG50DFX. When I turn on the TS-9 or put my amp on the Overdrive Channel, it gets amplified a little. Should I be worried? Is there something I can do?

Some environments are just noisier than others.

Try playing in another room, with lighting and other "appliances" turned off, etc, and you may identify the source of the noise.

If it's parallel (i.e. pickups facing the speaker of your amp, or even the same direction), you are getting what is called feedback.

Your pickups are recycling sound frequencies coming out of your speaker cab your guitar has already sent into it. It is natural. Lighting will also provide slight buzz.

Also, keep in mind, if you have 3 single coils, you will have a slight hum in every position where only one pickup is in use. (1,3,5).

Well, I know it's not feedback because I get the noise even when the back of the guitar is facing the amp. I'll try playing it in a different room. The 1,3,5 position thing makes sense too. I'll check for it in 2 and 4. Thanks.

sound waves bounce so thats why you will get feedback even when the back of the guitar is facing it.

Also, if you are around a computer (like a bigger tower, or even a monitor), you are going to get a buzz, possibly even a loud hiss.

If you have your amp plugged into a circuit that has major appliances (TV, Frig, Computer, etc.) or Flouresant lighting you will get that buzz/noise.
I had a "Dedicated Circuit" put in for my amps.

Should you be worried? You better be worried if you can't handle a little standing parallel and nineties with your amp. I assume you haven't tried hugging it, guitar to speaker, volumized maximum. Let sound build around you. You can't digitize that, just obey local bylaw as a rehearsing professional.

I'v been looking into buying the American Vintage 1962 model one and I wanna' know how it plays as in; Are there any fret buzzes or dead notes? Because I'v searched about the 7.25 radius and it says you can sometimes get that.

I can hear my freaking blackberry through my amp every time there's activity on it. Damn work.
