Hello, I have just bought a Blackout Strat, the serial number is identified on the Fender site as a Rosewood fretboard.
I have no idea how to tell if this is the correct neck and the mistake is Fender's or whether the dealer has bolted on a different neck.
The inspection tag is dated 24 Oct 14 and it seems to me to be very strange that a guitar would be inspected a year after the neck, which should have an Ebony fretboard, was built.
I have no idea whether it is ebony or rosewood, but it looks too brown to feature on an all-black guitar.
Can anyone help me be sure?
Many thanks in advance.

I'm guessing you used the product registration serial number search?
You could email Fender with the serial number, usually they can provide the original specs for a guitar built with that serial number.

And to your other question (the black trem arm tip topic), there are many ways to attach a loose trem arm tip - teflon tape, heat gun glue, epoxy, lacquers...
AFAIK, Fender only has part number 0994934000 available at the moment, and that's probably the one you have. Aftermarket parts are of course the other option.

Thank you jmattis, you guessed correctly.
I did read after posting that necks can lie around for quite a while before being used.
I'll try Emailing Fender during the week, although the guitar is also getting its frets done this week, so hopefully the luthier can confirm the fretboard wood.
The trem tip was more curiosity than anything else, it's just strange that the official part doesn't fit.

Just because it's ebony does not mean it's black.
