Hello,

I wonder to ask an opinion regarding the guitar body shown in attachment - the customer told me that it is a US 80th Stratocaster (alder body which was repainted). Is it possible based on the pictures to define the actual model of the body?

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8XsR ... x1V3NjZHJJ

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8XsR ... 1MbUVnV3hB

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8XsR ... hpOWxWYlJr

What's about pick-ups? Does it custom shop single-coils?

3- Will this body be compatible with Stratocaster 1968th 4 bolts neck?

Thank you!

Gleb

Anything is possible...

There's a distant possibility that body is a legit Fender from the swimmingpool era, but there's been so much work done (and not all of it pro level...) that IMHO the body has lost a lot of the Fender prestige it may have had in the beginning.
And your pics don't show enough for very much certainty. Full shots from both sides, details from the trem, neck pocket (stamps & markings if there are any) and so on.

Plus, you really should post pics on the forum, not links. Many members don't open outside links at all...

OK, thank you - I will add the additional photos latter.
Is it possible to add here photos from the google-drive (not the refs)?

What could you say about the wiring?

I'm not convinced.

I'm not happy with the radius in the spring cavity and why doesn't it have a 22 fret neck or "Fender" neck plate with micro tilt hole.

There are no trem cover screw holes (these have a countersunk lead in). The trem claw and screws are wrong - wrong type and wrong shape. The trem springs are wrong, they should be a black colour.

The radius to the rear bottom cut out horn edge is wrong.

This all as compared to my 80's MiA (also in black).

You need the image address (starts with http, ends with .jpg), then you can use the IMG-command on the forum. I'm not a drive.google user, so I don't know how you find the address - maybe open the pic in a new window...

On the guitar electronics...
I've seen cleaner solderings.
The humbucker is a Seymour Duncan SH4, which you probably knew. The CS stickers don't guarantee much, since they could have been just slapped on the pups. On that pic, can't even say if the wire is plastic or cloth...

And your question about the '68 neck compatibility: you just have to test it. As comfort: even non-Fender bodies usually accept Fender necks with some fitting.

Me neither, that's why the 'distant possibility' clause.
I'll give the body the benefit of the doubt because of the refin (& other) operation(s) - there's no telling what's been sanded, routed, filled, deformed etc. Anyways, if there originally was some special Fender-eighties-mojo, it's gone with the mod wind.

As for partscasterism, I took for granted the body only was under discussion and the neck came from somewhere else.

80th?
Come on!
Be sensible with the numbers.

The guitar itself is a bitsa.
Bitsa this, and bitsa that.

It never left a Fender production facility with its current configuration.

The body is refinished early US Standard, and the neck is from another guitar.
It's interesting how 80th becomes 80s guitar body.

Possibly fender due to the fact that few other bodies have the microtilt.
The date of manufacture would be buried under the unneccessary paint in the neck cavity.
Presume it has two point trem.
If you have a vintage neck why not put it on a vintage reissue or custom shop body rather than this?

There's a strong possibility that guitar was the 80th made that day.
