New to the forum. I just bought a used MIM Strat that has a beautiful cherry burst on a flamed maple top, single volume and tone, and a side jack instead of on top. It has a small decal on the back of the headstock that says "Special Edition". I cant seem to find any info on it on the Fender site, so I'm assuming it is a discontinued model. I'm not sure how to post pictures on here. Has anybody seen one of these before?

Serial is MZ5115546. I'm not sure of the wood type although the top appears to be flamed maple. The two knobs look like telecaster knobs.

How do you post pictures on here?

The back and sides are a dark transparent red and the front is flamed cherry burst.

I have that same decal on the back of my strat's headstock. My serial # is MZ4243851. I too have no idea what wood it's made of or anything like that. I thought it was a standard strat when i bought it, but I noticed the special edition sticker when i brought it home. I heard somewhere that the MZ4 serial # means it was a 2004 strat, which is kind of odd since i bought it new from Guitar Center in Dec. of '05. i've been trying to find info on the special edition, but have had no luck.

According to the guitar dater project, mine was made in 2005 - 2006. Does your's have a pickguard and 3 knobs?

I do not think that they put FSR (Factory Special Run) guitars on the Fender web site. My Straght Six Stratocaster is a factory special run of 831 made and never seen it on this site. Also there was one called a 48th. Street Special that I think was made for Sam Ash to sell that was a FSR and not on the Fender site.

The closetst thing I've found on Fender's website is the American Deluxe Strat FMT. However, my input jack is on the side like a Tele, mine has 3 single coils, and Tele style chrome knobs. Plus mine is a MIM.

Ya some are obvious like my Straght Six it has one Atomic Humbucker and a volume knob and is finished in a flat black with a white pickguard black knob and with a maple neck. Only a few places had them to sell.

Well it's electron blue, and that color didn't come out until 2 years later. Could the color be reason enough for the special edition decal?

I don't know if color has anything to do with it or not. What is the best way to post pics on this site?[/img]

Upload your pics to a site like photobucket or flickr, then copy the img link to your post like this: .

I've never posted a picture myself, but I think that's how it goes.
