Hi all,
I'm looking to buy an Olympic White stratocaster.
First of all, would them age to yellow-cream color in time? I'm more looking for an Arctic White color, but I've read it's available only on MIM strats.

Are there any differences between 1989, 1993 or 1995 STD strat? not pickup wise as I'm going to change it.

Thanks

All whites yellow, even Arctic. The speed and strength of the process are different depending on the finish type and circumstances.

Fender made minor and major changes almost every year on the American Standard/Series guitars. From color options to neck profiles to frets to electronics to routings...
I'd suggest getting a good book for details (A.R. Duchossoir's works, for example), and surfing this forum & other websites as much as possible. And when you consider buying a Strat, get to know the candidate guitars thoroughly, not just by pics.

I guess I would disagree with jmattis on the differences between 89, 93, and 95 American Standard Strats. I do not want to come across as a know it all... These were all the same except the numbering stamps on the back of the pickups and color selection. All these years had swimming pool routes, same types of bridges, tuners, etc. In 89-93 some came with poplar bodies when the alder crunch happened due to the cries of environmentalists! Those would be the only changes I know of.

You're quite welcome to disagree.
I took the lazy way out suggesting politely the google-it-yourself way instead of digging out various year specs.

But my main message was meant to be the last sentence; testing the candidates.
IIRC, the neck profile variations around that time could be significant (slims to fats). And anyways to me, real or psychological, two current same model Strats can feel different, let alone guitars with 20-30 years of (mis)use.

You got that right. Good point about the neck profiles as they were finished by hand and there was a lot of variation up until 93 when things started to be more standardized. I had an 87 Strat Plus with a Herbie neck and it was 3/4th the way to being like a Jeff Beck bass ball bat neck. Then I had a few others that were like slim c necks.
