I was thinking about putting an EVH Frankenstein Pickup into my86 Fender Contemporary strat MIJ. Any suggestions what kind of Humbucker to pair it with?

I assume you're going for the brown sound? This is tough because the real EVH Frankie pickup was the only working pickup in that guitar. A lot of people think that only having one pickup was a big factor in that sound. And your amp is very important. I guess you could try something like a SD Custom Custom? In fact, you might want to reach out to Seymour Duncan and ask them based on what you're trying to achieve.

By the way, the current EVH Striped Series one pickup guitars come with a Wolfgang bridge pickup. I have one and it's very hot and gets very brown. And it's super-sensitive to volume changes. Also, if you went with a Wolfgang pickup, you could keep things simple and get a matching neck pickup.
