They've been trying to decipher the Classic Vibe serial numbers' letters for quite a while @tdpri. So far, nobody has come up with a definitive, reliable answer. The first C is China, the rest most likely identify the manufacturing company/factory - but the amount of letters may also tell some other info, like the production batch.

You could try emailing Fender Support. If they give out that kind of info, please share. At the least you get the manufacturing year (& specs) for your serial number.

Hello,

Serial number CGRJ08001907 comes back as a Classic Vibe 50's Stratocaster, completed 12/2008. The serial alpha characters denote the country of origin (C for China), the last three are the OEM where the instrument was built. The first two numbers are the end of the year (08 for 2008). The rest of the numbers are sequential with a random starting number, so they do not mean anything in particular.

Regards-

Chase Miller
