Thinking of buying a second hand MIJ Strategy. I have one concern is the serial number JD15019***. When I enter the SN it does not return anything saying that it can't recognized it. Could anyone shade any thoughts, I am scared of buying a dummy/fake guitar
TIA
J C

Try entering it without the JD prefix.

Where did you enter the serial number?

If you used guitardaterproject.org or guitarinsite.nl, they don't do a very good job with Japanese Fenders.

Try this page: Fender Product Registration Serial Number Database
Edit: You can also contact Fender; https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/art ... -Relations

OK i found a bit more about it, I called Fender directly and they have access to a different database. The guy was able to tell me that it is a Classic 60s Strat made in 2015 and they used to sell them for £364!!, So now i am really asking myself, should I pay £400 for a guitar that cost less when bought brand new and we are not talking here about an old guitar that would have some value because there are not many around. What do you think?

I wouldn't. Sounds a bit like all those Ebay sellers passing American Specials off as Standards (and therefore asking Standard prices). The world is full of used Strats - keep looking!

Cheers - Peter.

Maybe not so hasty to doom the price...

The Classic 50 & 60 were a Limited/FSR/Exclusive (...) series from Japan, and I've test played a very nice individual my friend bought from Thomann Music Store. IMHO (and remembering I have a soft spot for MIJ's), on par with any AmStandard, above all MIM Standards I've played.
Don't know what you guys get in the UK for 400£, but in my 'hood that guitar would be well worth the equivalent 445,94€...

So it's a tough one. I checked the global.rakuten.com; their price for new MIJ's is around 600€ plus customs, taxes, postage.

jeannot18, if this is the Strat you've been looking for, and you feel is right for you, I'd say go for it.
But if this is "just a guitar that popped up" in some ad, consider other possibilities.
And who knows, maybe FMIC gives F-Japan green light for other globally sold series in the future...

I am going tomorrow to see it, and try it. My wife's cousin lent me an old strat MIJ and compared to my cheap Squier and imitation Les Paul, it is a much better guitar (probably just my impression but it seems that i am better player with it  ). I was going to go for MIM Strat, but my wife's cousin told me that in general the ones MIJ are slightly better guitar. I think that the guy from Fender got the price wrong somewhere, because in the UK i cannot see a Strat for that price (£364), all the MIJ Strat are easily around the £600 mark. Anyway i will go tomorrow and try it, if it feels right, I may get it.

That's the way to do it in most cases. Real or otherwise, if you like it that is all that matters!

This could be irrelevant to you, but I think I'm right in saying these recent Japanese Strats have basswood bodies? Might explain the price?

I had a very nice Ibanez with a basswood body, so I'm not against them per se, but I prefer my Strats with alder or ash. Still, that's just me!

Cheers - Peter.

:D :D :D :D
I am not the owner of a lovely Strat, it was better than I thought. Plays really nice, quite a bit of a difference with my existing guitars, so well happy with it.
Thanks to everyone again for their input
J
