I'm looking to wire my Strat to a 7 tone configuration with a push/pull (actually a push/push) to add the neck pickup to positions 1 & 2. From the diagrams I've seen, they all have the push/pull pot for the volume pot. Is there a way to wire it so the push/pull pot is on Tone 2?

I'm attaching a diagram of my current wiring (independent tone controls, hot rails for a bridge pickup - this diagram doesn't have the hot rails pictured). I ask as the volume knob is already in the way on a strat and I don't want it sticking up even more. I have tried a blend knob before, but I wasn't a fan of a master tone. I've thought about a mini toggle, but I don't want to drill new holes. I'm using the independent tone controls so the hot rails bridge has a different cap value (0.015uf) compared to the single coils (0.022uf).

Is this wiring possible?

My current wiring is example #2 on this site:

Hi there , did you consider using an S1 instead?
just throwing that in the mix it is fairly discrete :D

That had crossed my mind, but I'd be losing some pickup selections in doing so. Oddly enough, I do like the middle pickup for some things. I guess the best solution would be a mini toggle. I thought of placing the volume control where tone 2 is so it won't be in the way in the out position, but that eliminates volume swells.

Hold it the S1 is a bit like the mini toggle you are suggesting but it is discrete and provides up to 4 switched terminals not the one or two of a mini toggle....
Throw in a super switch for even more combos.
The only issue is figuring out the wiring which can be complex and laborious :)

The switched pot can be used to replace vol, T1 or T2.
The basic wiring scheme is the same as the Deluxe Player. Just transfer the switch wiring in the detail panel to the lugs on the switched pot.

You are right. I am getting the S1 and the super switch mixed up. I haven't thought of the S1. Not a bad idea...

This sounds good as well. I really don't know how guitar circuits work. I can work a soldering iron and follow a diagram. Every diagram I looked at had the push/pull for a volume pot. Good to know I can put it on a tone control like I had planned.

Decisions, decisions. Thanks for all the help!
