Anyone know a good way to wrap the string around the tuner post that'll stay in tune after using the whammy bar? I saw a video of john frusciante's tech showing how he does it although he threads the high e string back through the slot on the top of johns vintage tuners so I'm wondering if there's a way to do it on the modern strat tuners.

Lubing the nut, string trees, saddles and bridge contact points helps too.
For vintage style tuners use the method shown in the lower video from around 4 minutes

With locking tuners line up the holes in the direction of the strings over the nut, pull the string through the hole until it's pulled hand tight and lock the string.
You do not need any slack.

Wich fender vibrato are you talking about , vintage, modern two post ?

Strings is one thing, , locking tuners help.
Nut must have good string guide,
Good vibrato set up is a must with less than 1/8 ( at rear ) from the body.
Proper springs installation
Bridge two pivots must be tight in their hole. I not mean screw tight

You do not need any slack.

If you change between tunings, a little slack is useful, so you don't pull directly against the kink when doing large adjustments. Less string breakage that way.
But anything more than one turn around the post is a waste for locking tuners, and makes the tuning less stable because there's more string to stretch.

A little graphite on the nut sluts (use a pencil!) and bridge grooves helps too, no matter what kind of tuners or vibrato you have. And make sure you tension (pull) the strings several times after putting them on, so most of the initial give is taken out.
