Just wanted to give you guys a heads up as a strat collector on what to watch out for. I bought a used 2006 fender American deluxe from Guitar Center. PSA measure your fret markers before buying if it's something you care about being correct.

The fret markers on mine are printed off center by about 1/8th inch. Basically the 3rd fret marker is almost behind the D string but the 9th is behind the G string, giving the neck a very crooked and jarring look like it's not seated in the neck pocket correctly although it is. This becomes super obvious when I do videos close up of the fret board.

This was the response I got when contacting Fender, seeing if they could replace the obviously poorly made neck:

"I just find it peculiar that you'd purchase an instrument that you say looks 'amateur' and 'poorly made'. That dot dose indeed appear to be off-center, and had you purchased this new, we'd be having a different conversation."
- Brett L., Fender Musical Instruments Corp.

To everyone else I suggest if you're buying a strat and you're very certain about things looking correct and the guitar built correctly, well then watch out for fret markers being way off center like mine.

I find this post weird.
AFAIK, GuitarCenter has a return policy for used gear - I think it used to be 30 days. And they usually have pics of the gear they sell.
So you , being 'very certain about things looking correct', but not noticing the offcenter dots (before buying/before return time running out) is a bit of a mystery to me.
Did GC have the price adapted to dots misplaced, or was this guitar priced as other AmDlx's?

Fender's warranty policies can be criticized, but they follow the legislation.

If you bought the guitar for playing, the dots don't affect that. Just don't do the close-up vids.
If you bought the guitar as a collector's item, think of it in the same way as misprints on postage stamps - might become valuable some day.

And: pics, or it didn't happen.

+1

If the guitar were so shoddily made and you knew it beforehand then why did you buy the goddamm thing?

Sniveling trolls are strongly discouraged here.

So you bought an 11 year old second hand guitar and are now complaining to Fender? I think their response is entirely understandable and I would have expected nothing less.

If it annoys you that much buy another neck.

Why did you buy it in the first place?

Since yours are printed vs. inlays can't you just sand them off and reapply?

The ones on my 2009 Deluxe are perfect, as is the guitar over all.

For the guitar porn lovers out there, here she is, a 2009 all mahogany body Fender American Stratocaster Deluxe (HSS config)...

Not for me personally, but if it gets your rocks off that is all that matters.

I think it's disgraceful that they do not give an unlimited warranty with their products - surely 11 years is not that long a period of time?
