Dost thou doubt the integrity of our new acquaintance? Such presumption may be deemed impertinent in lesser circles and I would urge you to exercise greater constraint in your allegations as a less gracious man might perhaps consider you may indeed be talking bollocks.

+1

The gentleman might even entertain thoughts of telling such a doubting Thomas to politely bugger off.

This is interesting since wood is supposed to have absolutely nothing to do with tone on a solid body electric says science.

Science says no such thing. Wood vibrates, and vibrations transplant into both the pickups and strings.

Anyhow, my first guess here is that the connection between neck and body isn't as rigid as it should be. The second guess is that the neck could be a dud. With wood, no two pieces are alike.
But check the connection between the neck and body first. If you have some old duplication sheets from back when we used typewriters, that's excellent in finding out where it makes contact and where not. If not, some crayon marks can help too.
I hope you understand my comment was a lame attempt at trying to be humorous. It never works. :(

I had the guitar professionally set up by a luthier, everything is ok with the electronics. Unfortunately I don't have the old neck anymore so I can't put is back on the guitar. It seems that the wood of the neck just made the tone thinner. If someone tells you that the wood of the neck has no effect on the tone laugh in his face. Nothing else was changed but the neck. Same pickups, same body, even the replacement neck is rosewood just like the previous one. Now it sounds brighter than my maple neck telecaster. Very strange! On the body of another Strat that I have, a Mexican one, this neck sounds nice. That Strat always had a deep, muddy, bassy tone, and this neck brightens it just enough to make it sound better. On the body of my American Strat it just doesn't work. I need to search through ebay for some new necks it seems. Thanks for all the replies!
