This is for admin really, the shop where I bought my American Deluxe Strat said they lost the original case, shown in specs to have been a standard molded case, so they sent me on my way with a case that is used for both Strats and Teles. Once I found out I didn't have the original case I asked could they order one and I would exchange the one they gave me with the Strat for the correct one and they said yes, but later said Fender doesn't make them anymore.

It still says the standard molded case is shipped with American Deluxe Strats in the specs list so I'm wondering what the real deal is. Thanks in advance for help with this as the rectangular case seemed used thought they claimed it wasn't and besides that it reeks of vanilla. I have no knowledge or experience in this so I thought I'd ask here.

Cheers,

GuitarZon

The new ones are much better in my opinion and look like this:

A few things. First, you are very unlikely to get a response from Fender to a post made here: you need to contact Fender Consumer Relations - see the toolbar at the top of the page.

Second, if I am understanding correctly which case you got as a substitute, I believe many people might feel you got an upgrade.

Lastly, on that vanilla smell in the case (could be worse!), if you feel like it, search the Strat Forum for a thread with a title something like "What guitars smell of". Apart from anything else, it will suggest to you that many people here have too much time on their hands!

Cheers - C

I have an American Deluxe and have the case that looks like the first pic above. I've been to guitar center and have seen the new case (2nd pic listed above), and found it to be a much better case. If you can talk them into giving you the one in the second pic......jump on it!

Well thanks everyone, I really appreciate the rapid and complete help. It looks like I'm not going to have an original 'as shipped with' case but then the consensus is that I'm better off with the SKB case anyway. I may still contact consumer relations as a few suggested. More of curiosity than anything else. Thanks again Fender Folk !

Cheers,
