Hoya!

Well, my point was: since David Gilmour is really popular, a Signature Model would have made sense. If you take the Clapton one for instance, there are two versions: a Signature Series and a more expensive Custom Shop one.

Oh well, maybe one day...

Be funky

Can you pre-order them or will people have to wait until 9.22.08?

quick question. Since Fender is making these guitars, with the shortened arm, will they make replacement arms? Cuz I want to get my hands on the shortened tremolo arm. More control over the strings.

I bet they won't offer the shortened arm by itself.

How hard would it be to shorten a trem arm? I have a Dremel tool ...

Hi,
This will be an awesome guitar, but it's not an exact replica.
The original has 2 stock 69 pickups and a duncan ssl 1.

hi again,
And another thing I find intriguing. Why are there no pics of the back of the guitar. The aging on DG's Strat is very distinctive.

Sure,
But i was just making the point. Especially since in the UK the relic is being quoted at $5900.

For the shortened tremolo arm check out:
www.callahamguitars.com

For those that are going to wait in line and shell out 5K for this guitar, I salute you. But you could easily save yourself a ton of $$ by building one of your very own. Rethink this people!!!

Seriously, what is this instrument going to give you that another won't?

I am probably the biggest Gilmour fan on the planet and have seen him a number of times, but will I buy this guitar. No.

Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful piece of musical equipment, but it will NEVER be David's. Even if he personally autographed it, and played it for 5 minutes. As I stated in another post, it's like buying a paint brush like Picasso used. Sure you can paint a beautiful picture with it, but you will never paint like Picasso. For me the beauty of an instrument lies in the time that it takes you to save for it, play it, modify it, and cut your teeth with it, and put your OWN dents and scratches in it and ultimately make it YOUR OWN. Buying a contrived piece of equipment for 5K is a total waste. If Fender really wanted to help the cause, they would have made an affordable model, or at least dontated a portion of the profits to one of David's many charities. That would be money well spent.

I saw the REAL thing when it was hanging in the Hard Rock. It was beautiful, and no where near what this instrument is.
