I'm guessing we're in for several waves of disappointment over this guitar. First, the price. Then, end of September we'll start seeing posts on this site to the effect: "hey, I just shelled out thousands on the Sig, and I still don't sound like Dave!"

First a trickle, then a flood. Quick, move to higher ground, while there's time...

Haha, yeah, mine too!

My late brother was a GIGANTIC Floyd fan, and dragged me along in his wake as a grudging convert. The two of us must be somewhere to be found in the audience of that Pulse DVD - if we had a powerful enough microscope to find our tiny faces.

I'd been toying with the idea of picking up the lower priced of the two guitars for sentimentality's sake - but I suspect that price tag relieves me of the burden of that fantasy.

Ah, well. The "tribute to the Sig" modding begins...

Cheers - C

Edited for dumb typo

Anyone who wants to "sound like Dave" can look for the tour schedule for a tribute band.."The Floyd Project" and check out the stage setup of the guitarist who covers Dave. (The axe is a Strat SSH and I cannot tell you what the pickups are; theres a complex pedal board, a Marshall head and cabinet and a Fender combo all tied togther, and I don't know how that is configured into the sound board. Plus.....there's a second guitar player with his own gear.

Not to mention the hours and hours of listening and practice and yet, the guy never touched that whammy bar once!!

Sound like Dave?????

I'd rather be comfortably numb.

Doc

Haha: "she who must be obeyed"! Yeah, I've also got a very overdriven Boss, and I'm not talking about an effects pedal...

Mind you: American Deluxe Ash? Let's face it, your missus knows her Strats. By any objective standards that one is a much better instrument than the one Dave bought from Manny's in 1970...

Cheers - C

Hi, Mrs Hopkins! You have good taste in guitars, Ma'am. And as you know, like shoes, it is important to have many, many of them!

(Does that help, F?)

Good try but no dice. She says maybe they will go on sale one day? Maybe after they sell the first 500. She loves a good sale!

Now you can name your guitar "Ayesha".

Perhaps, with you in mind, there will be an "H. Rider Haggard" Tribute Stratocaster.

"I've also got a very overdriven Boss"

That's the best I've heard in a while.

Deja vu all over again.

I saw those prices and went *gulp.* That sure will make the Gilmour fans happy! Or something.

I would bet that, after all that hype and excitement, there is no joy in Mudville tonight. Man, just go back over the record of the threads of the past six months and look at all those posts. The minute I read 'NOS' and 'Relic', I knew. Those terms speak for themselves at the CS.

Remember the CS' slogan................."When you're ready."

Now the guy laughing all the way to the bank in this, is the owner of that fine looking "Jack Daniels" guitar...because he loves it, just the way it is, at a fraction of the cost.

Doc

Doc & Ceri, I guess I'm ready. I just got off the phone and placed an order for the NOS model. You know this means I'm going to have to sell my MIA Deluxe Ash strat that I just purchased in March. So in some way you helped me this morning Ceri! I guess, but the deed is done.

Hoya!

Sigh... So, it is going to be a Custom Shop model... Good for those who can afford it and too bad for the others.

I wonder, though, why such a popular guitarist as DG has not a regular Signature...

Oh boy, let's start to save...

Be funky

Perhaps the term entrepreneurial capitalisitc enterprise satisfies your inquiry?

....or just...."Build it. They will come!"
